Diffused LED Strip Lights
Depending on where they’re installed, the need to avoid glare, and a preference for a clean, direct installation, some projects call for LED strips with a dotless, continuous glow—without an aluminum channel or diffuser. That’s where purpose-built diffused LED strip lights come in.

What are diffused LED strip lights?
Diffused LED strip lights feature a built-in light-filtering layer that blends the output of individual LEDs into a softer, more uniform glow. Instead of seeing distinct points of light, you'll enjoy a smoother appearance with improved visual comfort, making them ideal for applications where the strip itself is visible or where dots reflected in indirect installations are a concern.
How do diffused LED strip lights differ from standard LED strips?
Unlike standard LED tape light, which exposes individual LED chips, diffused models soften and blend the light before it leaves the strip light. This reduces visible hotspots and creates a cleaner, more continuous lighting effect without requiring a separate diffuser in many applications.
However, just like traditional strip lights, diffused ones can be cut at designated cut points marked along the strip. Cutting anywhere else may damage the circuit, so always follow our cut markings and installation instructions.
Why choose diffused LED strips instead of using aluminum channels with diffusers?
Diffused LED strips simplify installation by incorporating light diffusion directly into the strip. They deliver a smooth lighting effect with fewer components while maintaining excellent performance. Depending on your application, an aluminum channel may still be beneficial for added protection, improved heat dissipation, or a more finished architectural look.
Where can diffused LED strip lights be used?
Diffused LED strip lights are ideal for both direct-view applications and indirect lighting where reflections on walls, backsplashes, countertops, mirrors, or other glossy surfaces can make individual LED chips visible.
Beyond that advantage, diffused LED strips are just as versatile as conventional LED strip lights. They can be used for under-cabinet lighting, shelving, display cases, stair treads and nosings, floating vanities, cove lighting, toe kicks, retail displays, hospitality environments, and virtually any decorative or architectural lighting application.
How do I know if I need diffused LED strip lights?
A good rule of thumb is this: If you can see the LED strip—or its reflection—you'll likely benefit from a diffused LED strip. If the strip will be completely hidden from view and its reflections won't be visible, a conventional LED strip can often deliver the same illumination at a lower cost.
Are diffused LED strip lights dimmable?
Yes. Most diffused LED strip lights are fully dimmable when paired with a compatible dimmable power supply and LED dimmer. This allows you to adjust the brightness for task, ambient, or accent lighting without sacrificing the smooth, diffused appearance.
What power supply do I need for diffused LED strip lights?
Choose a power supply that matches your LED strip's voltage (in our case, typically 24V DC) and provides enough wattage for the total length of your installation. For optimal performance and longevity, it's best practice to include appropriate power derating by selecting a power supply with additional capacity beyond your calculated load.
